For about 75 minutes, it seemed like the Palm Desert girls soccer team would cruise to an easy victory over Paloma Valley High School. . The Aztecs controlled possession and had many more shots on goal than the Wildcats.

However, the game turned 180 degrees late as Paloma Valley scored to even the game 1-1.

After overtime did not settle the game, the Aztecs and Wildcats went to penalty kicks.

After Aztec goalie Riley Wilson made a clutch save to knot it at 5, Regan Van Horn knocked in the game winner and the Aztecs survived to move onto the second round of the CIF playoffs.
